A signature is evidence of authenticity the moment it is created. When your audience learns that everything from you is signed, they can participate in protecting you from deepfakes. Signing content is like deepfake insurance; you hope you never get deepfaked, but if you do, it limits the damage by making the deepfake obvious.
Verifying signatures
A verified human creates a signature for a piece of content by uploading the unsigned version to Sign My Work. That version gets embedded in the signature and digitally signed by the human. The result is a QR code that is only valid as a signature for that specific content.
Wherever your signed content goes, the embedded signature goes with it. Viewers can tell that it includes a signature they can check.
Any device that scans the signature first verifies it is valid, then makes the original available to view in the app.
The app downloads the original, decrypts it on the phone, and displays it in the app for comparison with the signed version.

Why sign
You can’t detect a deepfake, and you can’t stop one from being made — real creators use AI too, and a good fake looks exactly like the real thing. What you can do is make sure that on the day one appears, your audience can immediately tell it is fake. Every piece you sign is a timestamped, passport-backed record of what you actually published. When a fake circulates in your name, you don’t argue — anyone who needs the truth, from a journalist to your board to a platform’s trust team, checks your signature in seconds with the free not.bot app.
When you don’t sign your content and a convincing deepfake comes out, you have two options: make a public announcement about the deepfake and raise its visibility, or ignore it and give it credibility.
